GOLONKA
The Golonka Farm was started in 1956 by Bernard and Mary Golonka
The farm started at about 20 acres. After Bernie and Mary added more acreage, their youngest son Jim and his wife Jan purchased property behind the farm to save it from development, growing it to 60 acres. Jim expanded over the years, moving from having a table and a few baskets on the front lawn to building the farm stand in the late 1980s.
Jim operates the farm with his wife Jan, daughter Emma, a couple other family members and a few hardworking staff. Jim’s sister Sonia manned the farm stand for many years until her death in 2013. Jim keeps bees both for pollination, and for the honey they produce, which is sold at the farm stand and throughout the year. While Golonkas is noted for its sweet corn, they grow a large variety of vegetables which they sell at the farm stand on Rt. 5/10. |
